With the dispatch of qualified specialists as development workers, GIZ contributes to the sustainable improvement of living conditions of people in developing and transition countries Job-ID: P1472V018 Location: Kinshasa Assignment period: 07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019 Field: Infrastructure Type of employment: Full-time Application deadline: 07/08/2018 Job description The GIZ program Transboundary water management in the Congo Basin supports the International Commission of the Congo-Ubangi-Sangha Basin (CICOS), which is backed by the six riparian countries, in regulating river transport and the management of transboundary water resources. The project supports the individual, organizational and institutional capacities of the CICOS general secretariat. In 2005, CICOS began setting up a regional information system for the Congo Basin (SIBCO), to ensure the qualitative and quantitative tracking of the problems occurring with the use of water resources in the Congo Basin. In addition to supporting the General Secretariat of CICOS in its daily work with up-to-date tools for digital office communication, CICOS experts are to be supported in the use of this information system with regard to data evaluation and maintenance. Your tasks
Consulting and support of the CICOS IT-Department in System Administration (Server, LAN and Workstations)
Consulting and support of CICOS experts in the use and evaluation of the existing data stock with the help of modern office programs
Advice and support for the CICOS planning department in the use of geographical data
Support of the existing information system for inland navigation and water management as well as advice on the exchange of data for the system with partners
Support of the CICOS planning department in the collection and use of data for monitoring in inland navigation and water management
Your profile
Very good knowledge in the efficient use of modern office packages (MS-Office, LibreOffice, MS-Exchange)
Good knowledge in maintenance and use of server and network infrastructure
Good knowledge of database software (Access, PostgreSQL, Excel)
Specialism in geographic information systems and spatial analyses
Good knowledge of managing natural resources
Educational skills to guarantee training for one or more team members
Knowledge of participatory development approaches
Good written and spoken French
Good knowledge of the African context would be an advantage

Place of residence: Kinshasa, RD Congo
Climate: tropical
