Its activities range from supporting biodiversity conservation and participatory forest management on the ground to mainstreaming biodiversity into planning processes in Central Vietnam. GreenViet intends to establish itself as a partner for local governments to provide relevant subnational policy advice on these topics. The objective of the cooperation between GIZ and GreenViet is to enhance the mainstreaming of biodiversity-related aspects into planning and subnational policy development. Your tasks
Support the management level of GreenViet in strategic planning of the organization, this would include development of a strategic 5-year plan and a mission/vision for the organization
Improve financial sustainability through improved acquisition intelligence and project development
Provide guidance on and improve the development of networks and use of synergies with other domestic and international organizations and development projects
Support relevant managerial and technical staff in improving their advisory capacities for mainstreaming biodiversity into planning and policy advice
Provide technical implementation support and capacity building for GreenViet’s project activities, focusing on biodiversity conservation and participatory forest management approaches
Support GreenViet in its efforts to become a center of excellence in central Vietnam for biodiversity conservation and policy/planning advisor concerning biodiversity in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands
Your profile
University degree in Natural Resource Management, Protected Areas Management or biodiversity conservation. MSc is of advantage
Minimum several years of professional experience related to protected area management, forest biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, biodiversity mainstreaming, multi-sectoral sub-national planning and/or participatory forest management
Experience in organizational development and/or policy advice and/or sub-national level stakeholders
Experience in collaboration with local communities and species conservation as well as working experience in multi-stakeholder environments
Working experience in Asia, preferably Vietnam is of advantage
Strong strategic thinking and communication skills
Good inter-personal and intercultural skills
Fluency in English and readiness to learn Vietnamese
Location information
Place of residence: Da Nang (Central Vietnam’s largest and most modern city of approx. 1 million inhabitants)
Climate: Da Nang has a warm humid subtropical climate including plentiful precipitation. The average annual temperature is 23.6 °C with a mean relative
Humidity of 79%. Da Nang has two main seasons, a rainy/cool and a dry/hot season

At the site of operation the particulate pollution occurs to be many time higher than the European acceptable limit. As part of the selection process and during the recruitment examination you will be informed of appropriate protective and behavioral measures.

Notes Main working station is Da Nang. The Development Worker is expected to travel regularly to Hanoi (GIZ) or with GreenViet for relevant project activities in provinces in Central Vietnam.

From the contractually agreed departure there is also an additional monthly expatriation allowance. This allowance increases if you are married and/or have dependent children – even if your family does not leave the country with you. Following your preparation in Germany, we offer you eight days’ departure leave so you can prepare for your deployment as a development worker. We reimburse the bulk of child care costs for dependent children under the age of 14 who are travelling with you. This entitlement lapses if your partner travels out with you and does not work as a development assistant or an integrated specialist. Up to 92.5% of costs for pre-school and school enrolment are covered. We help you find somewhere to live locally and reimburse the costs based on country-specific rent index. We provide health and liability insurance for you and your family. Family members travelling with you are also covered by accident insurance. During your working hours you are also legally covered by accident insurance. In countries affected by crisis your protection includes a comprehensive risk management system, which minimises personal hazards and risks.
